St. Augustine Apartments is the first new housing initiative of Catholic Homes in over 30 years. Located in the Morrisania neighborhood of the Bronx, the building includes 35 studio units of supportive housing and 77 units of affordable family housing (for a total of 112 units). The building is a stepped structure that reaches 14 stories at its highest point. Its footprint is that of the former church building and its height matches that of the original church towers.
Supportive services are provided to the special needs units through The Beacon of Hope Division of Catholic Charities Community Services. Beacon of Hope provides a continuum of services for the treatment and recovery from mental illness.
About St. Augustine’s Apartments
Following the footprint of the old church, the massing runs north to south, with the highest portion facing south. On the ground floor, there will be a lobby, management office, mail room and 10 apartment units. Plus, the ground level will feature supportive housing offices, a community/multi-use room and a laundry facility. Additional amenities include a landscaped yard, bike storage and a playground.

St. Augustine Apartments is certified under the Enterprise Green Communities program and is a LEED certified building.

The St. Augustine building varies in height from six stories to 12, with 112 apartments, ranging from supporting 35 housing units to large, family-sized apartments (21 three-bedrooms, 37 two-bedrooms, 19 one-bedrooms).
